Additional systemically important banks in Romania

The National Bank of Romania (“NBR”) regularly assesses credit institutions in terms of systemic importance, in line with the specific guidelines set out by the European Banking Authority in this regard. Following the most recent assessment of NBR dated December 2016 (which was based on available data as at 30 June 2016), Romania has two additional systemically important banks – i.e. OTP Bank Romania S.A. and Piraeus Bank Romania S.A.

The updated list of systemically important banks in Romania is set out below (together with the relevant score obtained by each bank): Banca Comercială Română S.A. (1775 bps), BRD – Groupe Société Générale S.A. (1161 bps), UniCredit Bank S.A. (1146 bps), Raiffeisen Bank S.A. (1015 bps), Banca Transilvania S.A. (949 bps), Alpha Bank România S.A. (442 bps), CEC Bank S.A. (377 bps), Bancpost S.A. (363 bps), Garanti Bank S.A. (345 bps), OTP Bank România S.A. (293 bps) and Piraeus Bank România S.A. (282 bps).
